Description
Design Assist was the answer to the success of the new Denver News Agency office building. Weekly design meetings included the contractor, the steel team, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors who discussed the interface of the major trades. Puma Steel and L.P.R. worked together with the structural engineer, Jirsa Hedrick to design the most efficient and economical structure.
The 14 story office is a steel structure starting a level 5. The rolled front of the building with balconies at upper level presented unique challenges that the team successfully designed to erector friendly connections with fewer pieces. The jobsite was particularly difficult as most downtown Denver projects – no room for material storage. The team worked closely to provide loads of steel on an as needed basis limiting the amount of steel L.P.R. had to store.
