Description

As part of the revitalization plan of Vail Village, Manor Vail desired upgrades to their existing wood building built in the 1960’s. These upgrades involved adding a new steel floor and roof above the existing sloped roof. With the small site and a new parking garage being built, crane and delivery access were compromised. The construction team worked together and planned the project utilizing 1 conventional crane and 2 tower cranes to accommodate the steel erection sequencing as well as erecting modules assemble on the ground.

The design included new tube steel columns to be set next to the existing building to hold large heavy girders which would support the new floor framing throughout. Atop the new floor would be a complex, heavily coordinated design of steel and wood with steep roof lines.
