Description
The St. Francis Medical Center was located in the quickly expanding Northeast corner of Colorado Springs. Schedule was critical for the construction team and L.P.R. utilized one tower crane and two conventional crawler cranes to keep up with the demanding timeframe. At one time, L.P.R. had 60 ironworkers working to erect the structure. Detailing was the most demanding as the edge conditions were design with heavy edge plate and bracing. The unique entry involved a “Tree” designed column framing which started 15’ in the air. This design need to carry the 5 levels of composite steel floor above them.
